On Artificial Intelligence

People are  saying that artificial intelligence is the next big thing.

I agree. But I wonder if humans, as a dominant species, really need to be dealing with something that is more intelligent than us right now.

If we think that we have the right to treat animals the way we treat them because we feel like we are smarter than them. If animals are the beings we sometimes do not pay attention to, the beings we slaughter, the ones we feel as though we can treat the way we want, is it safe for us to go ahead and create something that will be thousands, if not millions of times more intelligent than us?

Don’t we run the risk of becoming like the animals that we always thought we were superior to? I pose this question to you my dear readers. To those of you who listen, those who observe the world.

Doesn’t a world full of robots threaten to reduce human skill?

It’s as if man is a superhero who has developed superpowers that he does not want to use. It is as if man is this hero who would much rather give up his superpowers for an easy lifestyle facilitated by a bunch of robots because he/she no longer wants to come home exhausted from a long day of superhero work.

Do we need that kind of world? Will it be better than the one we’re living in? Or will it be just be another much more cruel version of this world that we were trying to change? I don’t know where you guys stand on this.

I don’t really think that anyone fully understands what this can become. The future is quite promising as it always is.

That being said, let’s not be too naive.
